INSIDE THIS ISSUE: WELCOME | ABOUT THE CLEARWATER PROJECT | RECENT WORKSHOPS
Welcome
The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County would like to welcome you to our Clearwater Project newsletter. It's a way of you staying informed about this important infrastructure project. Construction begins later this year.
An Infrastructure Project that Protects Waterways
The Clearwater Project was approved in 2012 after a multiyear evaluation of the sewer system serving 5 million people in Los Angeles County. This project will protect local waterways by addressing aging infrastructure.
Under the project, a new 7-mile tunnel will be constructed to convey treated water from the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant in Carson to existing ocean outfalls located at Royal Palms Beach in San Pedro. For more about the project, visit clearwater.lacsd.org.
Decades of Protecting Public Health and the Environment
The Sanitation Districts collect and treat the wastewater (sewage) generated by 5.6 million people in 78 cities and unincorporated Los Angeles County. For more information about us, visit lacsd.org.
Engaging with the Community
The Clearwater Project held workshops at the Wilmington Senior Center on Tuesday, March 26 and Carriage Crest Park on Thursday, April 26. Topics discussed included construction updates, traffic concerns, and environmental impacts. If you were unable to attend, the presentation is available.
